The photos are not loading on my browser, what should I do?
The time it takes for the photos to load depends on your connection speed to
the web. If you have a slow connection (28.8) some pages may take as long
as one and a half minutes to load. If the page loaded, but a couple of
pictures are not visible, you can try refreshing the page.
How come some photos for the same plant look different colors or even
like different plants?
Images vary for many reasons. If the photos are from different
sources, the photographers may have used different types of lens. A
polarized lens will tend to bring out the color of a plant more brilliantly than
a non-polarized lens. Also, the time a photo was taken and even the
environment in which the plant grew make a difference. A photo taken at
the beginning of a plant's bloom will look different than a photo taken near the
end of the plant's bloom season. A young plant will look different from an
established plant. In most cases, no information is available about the age
of plants or the season in which a photo was taken.
Can I reproduce the photos from this site and/or distribute them?
No. Almost all of the photos on this site are copyrighted by the
organization providing them and/or by the photographer. The copyright
terms vary from photo to photo. Use the Contributors link to visit the source
site of a photo and find out copyright information. In almost all cases,
the photos appearing on this site are not allowed to be reproduced for
commercial purposes. In some cases, written permission is required before
a photo may be used. The Schaumburg Garden Club deeply appreciates being
allowed to use the photos included in this site. You can help ensure our
ability to continue to use these photos by not reproducing them without checking
the copyright provisions first.
You are selling the plants featured on this site. Doesn't that
make your use of the photos "commercial"?
No. The Schaumburg Garden Club is acting as a not-for-profit
organization raising funds to be redistributed to our local community for
conservation, beautification, and educational purposes. In addition, the
Schaumburg Garden Club hopes to educate the community about the beauty and
importance of using native plants for landscaping purposes. The plants are
sold at prices lower than those of most commercial establishments. This is
done to further encourage their use. Finally, the fund-raiser also acts as
a means of ensuring plants native to Illinois continue to flourish in our
area.
If you are a not-for-profit, why are there advertisements at the top of
each page?
The advertisements are included by the company which hosts our web site,
Tripod. Tripod provides the club with free hosting services, server
access, and access to statistics about the number of visits to our site.
To receive this service free, Tripod requires the club display ads at the top of
each page. The club receives no cash benefit from this advertising, but is
benefited by having access to a free web site.
Can my company advertise on your site?
At this time the Schaumburg Garden Club does not accept advertising on
this site.
Can I put a link to your web site on my own web page?
Yes. This site will remain on-line throughout the year and its use
is encouraged for educational purposes after the sale.
I missed this year's sale, can I still get native plants?
The Native Plant Sale is held annually. Pre-orders are due approximately two weeks prior to the sale.
This site is updated annually prior to the sale, usually four to six weeks in
advance. If you've just missed this year's sale, you may be able to purchase
native plants at our annual Bulb and Plant sale, which occurs early each June.
You can contact the club at
