Also called Hazelnut, this excellent shrub produces edible nuts, though squirrel get most.  Male flower catkins appear in early spring.  Fall color is a highlight.

From Eastern U.S., but does well in our area.  White flowers bloom in May and dark blue berries are devoured by birds in late summer and fall.  Works best when several plants are planted in groupings around tress.

White flowers appear in early May with black fruit appearing in late summer.  Red/Orange Fall color is exceptional.  Birds will eat berries in late fall and winter.  Prefers wet soils, but does well in good garden soil.

Fragrance refers to smell from crushed leaves or stems.  Excellent plant for sunny borders and dry sites.  Fall red/orange color is a highlight.  Will form a spreading clump if cut back every few years.

Excellent for shrub borders and as a wildlife planting.  Fragrant flowers appear in May.  Birds love the dark blue berries.  Will become a large vase-shaped shrub unless pruned back every few years.

Very durable shrub.  Pink and white flowers bloom in June.  Peeling bark exposes a cinnamon interior, adding interest.  Birds feed on fruit capsules.  Yellow foliage in Fall.
